Mandrel vs. Crush Bent

What's the difference between these two things? I've heard them in reference to the pipe behind the cat when getting a custom exhaust from a muffler shop rather than paying for an expensive brandname catback system. Any ideas? I've heard the crush bent isn't as good, but any idea how much worse?

Its not anywhere near as good. When they bend the pipe it crushe itself and is actuall smaller in diamiter and no longer round inside.

Mandrel bent they use something inside the pipe while they bend it as to not let it crush.

If you are getting a custom exhaust installed I very much doubt a shop will have a mandrel bender, as I belive they are priced near 30k.

Mandrel is much much more expensive also. So if you decide to go mandrel then you best bet would prob just be an over the counter cat back set up.

if you care about performance then definately get mandrel bent. If you just want the look then dont waste the extra money... it is like LEVIII said: its the process by which the piping is bent.
