Megan Racing Header/Drift Spec catback
 

I think there's a couple of people with these running around on the forums, and I'm looking for some help.

I plan on replacing the factory exhaust system on my D16Y7 with this setup, and I know I'll need a catalytic converter installed in the system, between the header but before the catback system (obviously). the thing is, I'd like to minimize time I actually have to have the car on a lift/in the air, and make it easy to repair/replace the cat down the road. So i want to weld the necessary flanges onto the cat so I can jost bolt & unbolt as necessary.

Only problem, I don't know how big of a gap there'll be between the catback & the headers. Megan says i'd need a test pipe to fill the gap, but that's assuming factory headers & a catback system I would assume. (I've emailed to ask), but in my instance, that gap is likely different.

anyone got this setup that can lend a hand with some measurements?

I imagine you have a DX, so if you buy a header, high-flow cat and cat-back exhuast for an EX of the same year (NOT SI!), it will fit up perfectly. The DX has the catalytic converter right up in the exhaust maniflold/header, so to make up for the distance lost since there isnt a cat after the header, the midpipe is longer. The EX just had a normal header with a cat after it, and its D16y8, so if you buy all the components for that,hte length and fitment will be perfect.

Also, alot of hihg-flow cats already have the flanges on them, so hopefully you want have to weld anything on. You probably will only need to have it up on a lift for about an hour to install the header, cat and catback exhaust.

And as another side note, i dont think i've ever seen an aftermarekt header for a y7 (with the catalytic converter built right into the header)

yeah... megan racing wasn't much help, but i gather it's the same length as a stock ex catalytic converter?

anyone got the measurements on one of those?

i have the exhaust and i didnt need to get a test pipe or a pipe of any sort to connect it to my cat. Well my car is a hatch so it's different but yeah it just bolted on to the piece that came down from the cat. Direct bolt-on.
