Default muffler welding

had a new, universal freeflow muffler installed in my civic esi. the shop that did it used a bracket that wraps around the muffler and welded the hangers to it. the muffler is made of chrome and the bracket is made of sheet metal painted in silver.

i am wondering if is it possible to weld the hangers directly on to the muffler so as to not break the chrome look of the muffler body? this is a purely aesthetic concern, but if it means creating problems with the metallurgy of the muffler, i can accept this inconsistent look as purely something functional.

lol second person in two days who had a problem welding a useless muffler onto their stock exhaust. Do you realize you get ZERO gains and your car is just louder/worth less?

If you welded the muffler up to the metal it would rattle and snap off, trust me.
