Default Nice exhaust sound+performance

I was thinking about getting a header for my 94 civic dx to give it a little bit better sound and some hp but i dont want that obnoxious sound what should i do leave the stock muffler on and just swap the exhaust manifold for a header?

Well, the header alonewill gain you a few horses. You do know that you can get decent soundingaftermarket exhaust systems, right? Oh, and if you have an intake, you won't hear the header anyway... trust me

a header doesn't make a huge difference in sound.

I recommend the greddy evo2 for the bets sounding cat back with a good performance factor. The apexi ws2 also sounds good but from what I have been told, doesn't net the same HP increase as other exhausts.

DC sports headers will give you the best perforamcen, and maybe a LITTLE sound difference, but its mainly in the exhaust. Yes, GReddy Evo 2 and Apexi WS2 are really good, so is the RSR Ex-Mag. Intake suprisingly makes a large differnece in sound as well, so the AEM V2 is where its at as far as intakes go.

seminole_wind,
I have a 2000 Civic DX w/ 1.6L and I installed intake, Borla cat back, and an Arospeed chrome header and it did add some good deep sound to the exhaust note. Header only cost about $160 bucks or so. I think it was well worth the money. Seems a little quicker too!
