my "performance muffler" popped and all this fiberglass came out
question i wanna go back to a stock muffler
is there a difference between a DX and a SI muffler for my 1994 hatchy?
or a performance muffler that doesnt have that ricy or deep sound to it.
i want it to look like the stock one
any ideas ??

I'm fairly sure that the axle-back exhaust is the same for any 5th gen, regardless of trim. But maybe check into twin-loop mufflers? They're quieter than most aftermarket mufflers (while still providing gains)... but they don't really look stock. Here's Mugen's twin-loop. It's expensive (almost $800), but if you haven't heard a true Mugen twin-loop, it's one of the most amazing exhausts you'll ever hear, period.

twin loop ftw if you just want sound and dont care about performance. Other than the legit Mugen, Netami makes a sick twin loop that from waht i hear sounds really good, but i think the biggest inlet it has is 2", which sucks if you are going F/I, but doenst matter if you're staying I/H/E

for going boost 2.5" would be optimal, but i 2.25" will be better than nothin, but just get liek a Magnaflow muffler with a 2.25" inlet and you'll be set. They can be had on ebay for under $100 for sure

considering the stock exhaust on my 97 had both a muffler and a resonator (not too sure for your car)
Just using a muffler, even if it is a stock one, will be noticably louder than stock. I would vote for using another muffler as a resonator
I just like the sound of a performance exhaust with 2 mufflers. it is very mellow and deep.

I'd say get a flowmaster, magnaflow, etc. resonator and get a netami twin-loop. That combo should be pretty quiet. Also, from what I've read, turbos actually remove up to a third of the total exhaust noise, so that should help a lot too.

it may not relate to civic's but, I have a 6.2L Diesel GMC Jimmy and it is unbelievably loud, especially in comparison to the 6.5L Turbo diesels which are just bored out 6.2's with a turbo (basically) so the turbo actually cuts down on a lot of sound. And with a diesel you really can appreciate the quiet.
