O2 sensor question

I just got this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=250121031612in the mail to fix my CEL in my 2001 civic dx due to having no cat. The problem is that it extends the sensor out too far and hits something (not quite sure what it is) in the car. I only need like 1/4 inch and it would fit, but im not sure how to do it. I have an idea, but i dont know if it will break my sensor. On the o2 sensor, right before the wires come off of it, there is a metal cover going around it. I would like to think that it is just the 4 wires in that part, but im not sure. I want to bend it just enough for it to fit in. Will bending it just destroy the sensor and give me more problems?

probably not good to tamper with any part of the sensor, simply because they are very very, well, sensitive.

I agree with you, but if its just the 4 wires in that part of the sensor, then i believe it could with stand a little bend. Does anybody know if they sell shorter o2 sensors for the civic? that would work too i suppose. Or i will just have to buy one of the o2 sensor simulator that have the wires.

RE: O2 sensor question

best solution is to put your catalytic converter back, because you're not gaining any appreciable power, and killing the environment
