you will need a pretty long socket...if you don't have one long enough....you will need the tool

or if you will be replacing it you could just break it off..that's what i did.

I highly doubt you will need a specialised tool. Mine came out fine with just a spanner on my 98.

play it safe and smart, get the special tool, it's 5 bucks it's just a socket you add on to your wrench. do it !!!!

I diasagree. It's a standard nut, and usually easily accessible. Only get the speacial tool if you are having trouble with just a spanner.

the only thing with the "special tool" is it's a socket with a hole down the side to accomidate for the wires, use a wrench, or if you dont care about the sensor, snip the wire and use a normal deep socket.

unclip the harness, use an open ended wrench and you'll be fine. Just dont use any lubricant to remove the sensor if its still working properly because the lubricant could damage the sensor.

Follow flips advice. There is nothing wrong with it. This is the far best one to go with. The wrench you need should be a 21mm. Use the closed end first after disconnecting the wiring harness off first. Slip the wires through and on the nut then take off. Its that simple.

I took all of mine off with a wrench when i put my header on. It was fairly easy if there is nothing seized on it. don't let all the special tools fool you, they are not necessary but they do make things a little easier.
