Something I never fully understood...

Allright, Now I have a throttle body spacer on my car. There were small gains, very small but still a gain. What I was just thinking of not too long was, why are throttle body spacers supposed to help gain low end power when it takes longer for the air to reach the engine with the spacer added? Granted the air is flowing at such a rate I can't see the spacer making a difference at all. I guess I do understand the swirling technique used to help the air mix with the fuel better. Which would help a tad with gas mileage. I just think now and see that I basically wasted $100 on something, lol.

Bottom line is that every little bit counts. The spacer is just allowing the air to flow better meaning a little faster.

Dare to disagree;) Almost all of intake/exhaust mods gain (if at all) in one place and lose in another:(

with the spacer, i don't think it really helps swirl anything, becasue the air still makes the same 90 degree turn to go into the runners, so the only thing i can think of is it has a small increase in plenum size allowing more air to be available as soon as you hit the gas.

looking at this dyno chart from a reputable manufacturer, I strongly believe spacer mentioned by OP does not improve anything and does not hurt anything in any noticable manner ;)

Truth, just makes the plenum bigger by a very small amount.
