Default SRI Whistle

i was just wondering if the SRI's are supposed to whistle when the throttle is fully opened. Its not the SRI itself, but the cheapo filter thats on there. I was just curious to kno if the cheapo filter is doing it or will all SRI filter's whistle because of their design? Its a homo high whistling noise that sounds like the squeaking of the belts on the engine when they get wet. Im putting my money on the ebay filter just sucking huge @ss, but i dont wanna go rushing to buy a replacement K&N to stop the noiseif its gonna do the same thing. Thanx

umm are you sure it's the filter? have you like attached the filter to just the throttle body to find out for sure?.......
There two lil idle air ports in the throttle body cause the whistle (I think, it's that or the vent/air temp) and you only notice it's there when you swap out the OE intake assembly for an intake pipe which amplifies the whistle. My buddy used to con people into the idea it was his "turbo" lol........ After a while you forget it's there (I can say I've actually said to myself "did the whistle go away" and then I'll hear it again).

good idea on the kn filter though, but it won't solve your problem, it's simply the sri in action, they all do it, but not necessarily at full throttle, more like around 3500-4500 rpm or a certain throttle position depending on the load.

Dude I had the exact same thing happening with mine....

it's like an old man whistling between his teeth. I don'thave it anymore though. When it was happening I remember it would progressively get worse, I brought my car to a mechanic I know to see if he could do anything. He retightened everything for free for me and it went away for awhile, but came back after I throttled it pretty good. I would constantly retighten everything and it would go away and come back. But now since it's been warmer it hasn't made it at all. I think it happens because of the metal compressing and expanding due to the heat and cold, causing the nuts to loosen a bit.

Yea... mines always had it....... not worried about it..... also it does it all the time with sri or cai but with the filter further away (cai) from your ear you're less likely to hear it but if you drive next to a wall on the passenger side and hit that magic throttle placement you'll hear the whistle....

My Y8 used to make that moise with the SRI. The B16 I have in it now dosn't do it at all. Not exactly sure what causes it.

Got a Y7 with a SRI (and cheap filter) and it whistles too...depends on throttle and RPMS, mine is LOUD at full throttle, and also seems to whistle at 3500 under any acceleration...I think its just one of the noises that the stocker airboxes trap and eliminate

i have an AEM filter ghetto rigged to the stock intake tubing on my car. It whistles a little and i hear it for a sec when i lift off the throttle if its under a load. People think its a BOV so i just let them think my car is bad-@ss.
