Default stock muffler equivalent

Hi everybody!
Civic noob here. I just bought a 92 lx 4door (as a commuter). The kid I bought it from has put on a SRI and some unknown loud muffler.
I'm not really interested in loud, and looking for something that will sound like stock. I'm trying to find something autozone-ish... but i have no idea what i'm looking for.
can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks guys. Great forum!

stock= stock nothing would be comparable to stock ones. you can get some that are not as loud but stock is your best bet if you want the stock sound

yea, you're not going to find the stock sound without getting a stock muffler

It could be pretty hard to find a decent stock one for a 92 (other than dealership)... but there are typically plenty of people selling their gently used stock mufflers when they buy new aftermarket exhausts for their cars... so, I have no idea how easily an 06ish muffler would fit a 92... but you could probably find a 2 year old muffler in decent shape for really cheap..

i think all 92-00 rear muffler section is the same.
theres a local junk yard here, pullapart that has a stock muffler......
i could go get it, its on a 97 civic lx 4door. tho its a buck to get in... about 10bucks for the muffler. it looked good pretty rust free from what i looked at from the back.
im not sure how much shipping would be.... but if ya make it worth my wild i can scoop it up for ya

for cheapest just look around your local junk yards..... a junk yard where you pull your own is the cheapest... the two i know of localy to me is pullapart and pickapart. check localy around your area. you could cheap out as much as posible.. very easy to pull the stock muffler off only takes a common set of sockets and some WD40. spray some wd40 onto the rubber hangers and just pull the hangers off and unbolt the axle back joint. simply 2 spring/bolts tho those spring bolts can be a PITA to reinstall!

PB Blaster works better than WD40

FYI, the 4 door and 2 door exhausts are identical
the axle-back (the muffler and piping all the way to the flange by the rear wheel) from any 92-00 2/4 door civic will fit directly.
