my friend told me about a "test pipe" that u can use that is hollow and fits in the space of the cat converter. does anyone have this installed and where can i get 1

You can get an Arospeed test pipe through JC whitney. I hate JC whitney, they take forever to ship and it is expensive as hell. The piece is made hard as a rock but don't forget, if you run a test pipe you have to find an O2 simulator to keep CEL from coming on.

 

on obd2. obd0 or 1 will be fine, but its just not worth it to run a test pipe over a high-flow cat. the only exception is on turboed cars, where the gains are a bit higher, but i still wouldnt do it.

I know this is kinda old but finally made it back to HCF. I have a test pipe on my 97. Looks great and helped a little with Hp. It does smell different and I also had to buy an O2 simulator like posted before. I ran it with stock exhaust and it worked fine. Finally got my Evo2 on last week and the combination sounds great. Can't beat the price on the test pipe and in my opinion it works great. Sorry no pics.

 

I got a de-cat pipe practically a test pipe with my cat back, all I can say is its a straight flow for added HP.

 

i want an evo2 sooo bad - i guess i will get the test pipe when i buy the evo2

 

if u can while ur at it get an intake too...and a header (if you dotn plan on getting a turbo)
