Default want CHEAP hp any suggestions?

I just bought an 08 civic lx bone stock....I just put on a catback exhaust and would like to know what else I can do to it to get the hp up. I bewlieve the spec is 140 stock and would like to have it at 170-180 without a turbo or anything extensive due to my budget. Please let me know any suggestions. Thanks!

I believe all the civics of that gen have the r18? Correct me if im wrong but those engines arent the best to mod, I dont think there are a lot of after-market parts either. You also arent going to get 180hp cheaply and that is a fact! You should have gotten the si.

Cams, valve springs, retainers, port/polish head, intake, exhaust, tune (would that be K-pro?)

You could be around 180hp by then. But you're looking at a pretty steep bill.

Lol the tune would be the last on your list. You don't tune a stock engine. Only fast and furious gurus can do that haha

Nike, I think he is asking about tuning prices as that's the only thing you cannot search on eBay and get prices on. Not saying that eBay is bad, just beware of what you are buying when you do shop on eBay.

OP, check around your area to find a local tuner. All tuners have varying prices depending on what you want to do. Give them a call and see what you think. I would estimate that you're are looking at around $150-$500 for tuning.

I dont think the lx or any of the new 8th gens besides the si have a k-series motor. So you cant you k-pro. Again your pretty limited with what you can do. Boost is probably the only option and even then there arent a lot of parts and its hard to tune.

Yea, I guess iof you cannot use K-pro, you have to look into piggy backs (VAFC, E-manage etc)

OP, how much money do you have to spend?

correct which makes them difficult to tune

its kind of like buying a 99 civic ex and then turboing it with a piggy back.
