Default What determines the Sound/Noise

Okay i always wanted to know this to be sure, but in a short ram or cai what makes the sound like the deep tone or whistle noise or whatever. Is it the pipe that determines the sound or the filter that determines the sound? I've been told its the pipe but when i think about it a pipe is just a pipe. So shouldn't the sound be more consistant with other short rams (what i have) if it is the piping. Like if i got the same length and cut piping and installed it on two cars one with a regular cheapo filter andthe otherwith an aem filter and those who say its the piping shouldn't both cars sound the same then? I just have a feeling they wont and i think the filter determines the sound, but hey i could be wrong and thats why i'm asking this question lol. So what really determines the sound of the intake???

The filter... you can hear it louder on an SRI because it is closer to you... CAIs make the noise but it is far down...

well filter location is probably why that is Moogly. Metal pipe over the stock rubber hose makes a big difference in it, and the V2 has two pipes so i'm sure that has a really differnt tone as well

wider tubing gives lower tone (like the v2) and a more compact tube gives a higher tone (aem cai). the fact that the cai is lower will make it sound not as loud.

with the filter, you hear the sucking sound the piping determines the noise
