Depends on the money you got to spend. If you have over $400 get a catback exhaust. If you have around $100 get an intake, like ashort ram. I recommend going with name brand performance parts. Theres usually a good middle ground for people on budgets that want more performance just don't go too cheap and research.

Forget the "oh, go get this part, it makes you go fast"
Think of it like this, An engine is like a giant air pump, the more air in, the more air out, the more power created. This doesnt sum everything up, by a long shot, but it gives an understanding of what mod's will hurt, and which willl help.
Depending on the budget, keep in mind a few things;
- A Catback exhaust is nearly useless if your using stock manifolds, which barely flow to start with. You wont pick up any extra flow from a part that just dumps exhaust out the back of the car.
- Keeping in mind, the first statement, look into the parts that are lacking flow from the factory (i cant help you with this, im a domestic V8 guy). If from the factory, the intake ports were poorly designed and restrictive, thats probably a good place to start. The cars came from the factory with a nessecity to abide with all emissions restrictions, so some parts hinder flow more then others to slow down the speed polutants exit the car.
Ex. in a 1998 - 2002, the Camaro's/Birds, though they created 345hp from the factory, had a restrictive baffle in teh intake to make the air flow quieter.
Your best to start off with smoothing the flow of air:
Headers - Not sure how big a header tube should be, but for best flow, id begine with a 1 5/8" tube, and if you really get ambigious for power, a 1 3/4"
Intake: Smooth the air flow in, less restrictions, more power
Hope this helps shed some light on modifying a car..
