advice on mesh grill emblems

I recently put this mesh grill on and sprayed it flat black to match the trim. But I think it looks like its missing something.

I thought about putting the Honda emblem from the stock grill on it, but I think that it will look too big holding them side by side.

Any ideas on something cool I could do to make the grill pop more? At auto zone they have small badge letters but I dont know what word I could put that wont look too ricey. I saw how Itinerant put the civic badge on the grill, but I dont really wanna copy that cause our cars are the same color.

Anyone have a smaller older gen Honda emblem for sale?

i think the only thing to have on the grill that would be ok is the honda emblem, anything else wouldn't look too good

I don't really think the grille is missing anything, it's the rest of the car that's missing detail. Right now the grille doesn't match anything on your car, which is why it looks out of place. Maybe get some black housing headlights and it should look fine.

Did you paint he grill black? why not spray it tan to match the car?

Maybe the LX emblem On the grill?

MaximusFunk Jul 18, 2009 05:14 PM

:P im embarrassed that its an lx, If i knew anything about hondas when I bought it, I would have held out for an EX but i didnt know the difference, I just knew i wanted a civic.

You think it would look better to match the tan paint? I thought flat black would match the trim. I like the black trim, i dont know why everyone paints it the first chance they get. when I get a front lip, I will spray the trim and the lip tan and post pictures for comparison to see which is better.

:P was the cobra badge a joke?

Yea, I bet the cobra badge was a joke.

For the grill, I say keep the actual grill mesh part black, but paint the trim to match you tan color.

Wow, I missed this thread. Dude, copy me and toss a Civic emblem on it! Start the gold sedan mafia! heh.

There are black housing DIYs all over Honda-Tech. Really, all you have to do is this:

yank the headlights, remove the bulbs and rubber seal things from around the bulbs, (dont touch the bulbs or they'll explode when you turn them on), get a hair dryer, put it on low heat, and stick it in the headlight hole. The exhaust air will go out the turn signal hole. Monitor how hot its getting. When its hot to the touch, use a flathead screwdriver to start prying the tabs apart. The hot seal will stretch apart pretty easily. Just pry slowly. Once you get the housing apart, you'll see screws to take out so you can remove the silver housing. The orange reflector pops right out. Paint however you see fit. You should remove all of the old seal and use adhesive caulk to reseal. Then once its back together, be sure to add more around the edges to get a water tight seal.

I think one of those bike emblems would look cool. Are they metal? If so, paint the whole thing black then wet sand the raised Honda logo until its silver. It'll look mint again. I dont recommend the round one because that one is specifically for Honda bikes.

I think if you get a lip on there it will make the grill look less out of place.
