Coil overs...help
I am thinking to get a set of coilovers for my 2000si. However I dont know which ones to get. My Budget is under 1000 (i know thats not alot of money but all i can afford atm). I found some HSD coilovers with dampening for less than 1000. He also has Function and Form type 1's with no dampening. My question is is HSD a good brand and would dampening really matter? ALso whats a good brand of coilovers for civics
You can easily get a good coilover kit for under $1000. I've never heard of HSD coilovers before. After looking them up, I'd say stay away from them. They look like just a cheap generic type coilover. Wouldn't trust them.. I also would never suggest or personally use Function & Form coilovers. There are much better coilovers for cheaper that are of better quality.
The cheapest yet most reputable and reliable coilover I know of is the Progress CS-II coilovers. For $560 shipped, you CANNOT beat it. I've yet to see or hear of anyone mention anything better... This coilover is a great street coilover as the spring rates are mild and these coilovers are not designed to "slam" the car. If you want a very fun yet comfortable ride for a very good price, get these. These coilovers are only height adjustable. Few reasonably priced coilovers offer dampening adjustability. Rebound is what you would really be looking for and even then, it's not entirely necessary, esp if this is just a fun street car.
The only other coilovers I ever suggest are Koni Yellow Sport shocks matched with Ground-Control coilover sleeves. Both companies are top notch, both in the street tuner and race communities. Both of these companies offer life time warranties on their products. I've had this setup on my race car for about 4-5 years now with zero problems and I love it's versatility. I also can't even count how many people I know who use this exact setup on their race cars, it's just a no brainer.. These shocks offer rebound adjustability and can handle some pretty stiff springs(up to 600lbs/in). This set is a good bit more than the Progress coilovers, but well worth it if you want more aggressive performance. You can find the set for around $750-800.
Just a tip, stay away from: Function & Form, D2, KSport, Megan Racing, and Blox coilovers.. The 2 I suggested are both cheaper AND far better than these.
