cut or remove cold air intake ??

Sup everyone, when I bought my car ( 99 civic 2 door ex) it came with a cold air intake, the one with the filter infront of the bumbper, well my g/f bought me some fogs and as I cut the bumper I noticed a nice BIG pipe from the cold air intake in the way.

My questions is,. Do I cut that pipe and just move the filter up so its tucked inside the bumper or do I just get rid of it and replace w/ short ram??

I would still like to keep the cold air intake so has anyone came across this problem n how did u solve it by keeping ur cold air intake??

Thanks 4 any advice.

just trim it so it wont hit the fog light... all depends on the filter size.

you could always jsut loosen the filter and push it up on the pipe, just enough to clear the fog light should be fine as long as the tube is not hiting the end of the filter. then later on if your worried you can always remove the intake and trim the pipe to shorten it a bit.
i never had any problems myself

well the pipe takes a turn , unless i cut above that turn, but will the filter fit?? or would i have to get another cone filter instead of the box one that i have currently??

just get a replacement filter that will fit the area that you have to use

well the cold air intake for the 96-98s go between the frame rail.
but you can make your 96-98 to fit the 99-00 cai just by cutting the hole out for it to fit thru and drill a hole for the mounting bolt. i thought about it on my 96dx but since im gonna slam it again im going to stick with my modified short ram intake. just a shortened cai. ;)

well no engine paint this time... at least not black. maybe silver high temp paint. not sure about the matching gunmetal full paint .... but i will paint the valve cover to match.

im only waiting for the temp outside to warm up enough to do all the body work and paint it all in 1-2weeks since i have about 2weeks vacation time built up.
i would do the body work now BUT i dont want to risk any moisture geting into the bondo before i prime and paint it. and i still drive the civic from time to time (when the trucks on empty and no more gas money till payday.)
and when i do the paint and body work im going to remove the doors and all the body parts i can remove to paint since im going a full cover swap. ive been thinking about being lazy and just paint it back silver BUT i dont want it to look stock either so i figure i might as well put in the extra effort and do it right! only thing i will not paint at the same time as the whole car is the engine bay. at least just not yet... when i pull the motor/tranny to replace the clutch setup just for the hell of it then ill clean up and paint the engine bay to match.
