DIY Lambo Door Conversion
So, I planned on doing a full out written DIY for the lambo door conversion but the ones I found from Decah and other places where right on the money, thus making a new DIY would be silly. So, after installing the door kit this weekend I figured I could at least compile my findings from the internet on how-to the kit. And just a tip, read everything and ask questions BEFORE you begin and take your time!!!!
This is one of the best. It's from Decah: http://www.wickedbodies.net/Decah-VDC-Install.htm VDC General Instructions (Still very good, good tips): http://www.verticaldoors.com/_produc...structions.pdf Install instruction on a celica (similar steps to the civic): http://plaza.umin.ac.jp/~satoshi/mod01Oen.html Good luck for anyone who does this mod themselves. It was fun, but I'm glad it's done!! Oh!! And if you need spare parts like the shock, ball joint, bracket/ end connector you can get them here: http://www.lambodoorsusa.com/spare-parts.html Yes, you can get them elsewhere, but these were the company that helped me out finding the right parts. |

I heard the bolt on kits are ****, no matter wut brand. Weld on kits are where its at , i would hate to accidentally slam the door and a bolt pop off or somehting get bet. Also i heard u have to like line up ur doors to close em. May just be rumors but idk go for it.

There is a reason they do'nt come factory, Hell even Lambo has stopped putting them on new design cars, The baby Lambo has a normal door.

Danomatic93, do you have yours on now? Lets see some pictures. |

Lambo doors are so played out. After you get over the "this is so cool" phase, you'll be begging for your $1500+ back. They start to be a pain in the ass too, unless you have a show car it's not a good idea in my opinion. My friends hate mine.
I'd rather start on an engine swap or turbo with the money. Definitely show us some pictures though. |
RE: DIY Lambo Door Conversion
Weird, so you all know, I only spent $400 TOTAL on the kit. There no way I would ever pay 1,500 for that!!! I put it on myself and I love it. It seems that if you modify your car anywhere beyond stock, that isn't performance related, people hate on you all the time. I live in Wisconsin and thus far I am the only civic in my area that has them. I have had nothing but compliments on the door so far too.
I work with a bunch of guys that have the big trucks with lift kits. They are normally laugh at my car and call it the little marshmellow. Well, when I went to work all of their jaws dropped. They all thought it was awesome. So, hate if you want, I don't care. If it breaks I still have to stock hinges. So for now, I'm going to enjoy being an old man with lambo doors. |
RE: DIY Lambo Door Conversion
Hmm how much do you think it'll cost to get it professionally done when you already have bought the part.
