Default Door upholstry is peeling off.....

I just purchased s 2002 civic EX 4D and the fabric on the doors is coming off of slowly. I want to repair it, but if I have to remove the whole panel to do so then I want to put something different in its place.

How do I fix this, and if it requires taking off the panels to do so, then does anyone have some different ideas about what I can do to make it look better than the original?

Thanks,
Deadlyripped

You can always use a different fabric and re-cover it. You will have to take the door panal off. Im not sure how it is in a 02, but usually there is a couple screws, some around the speaker and door handle, then the rest of the door is held in by clips that you just pull the door panel and the clips will pop out. If a part is not coming off, just check around it for screws.

I've never done uphostry work before.... does it take a special glue or applicator or roller? Anyone know of a tutorial on replacing this stuff?

i was thinking of doing that to a center console before and wrap it to match my door inserts, i was wondering if the arm rest gets in the way of shifting, does it?

no, I dont think I understand your question. Why would honda design something that would make it harder to shift...

most center armrests are used in autos, so i was wondering how much arm room you have to shift without hitting your elbow? plus do you have a pic, i thought it would look kinda strange with my stock seats.

I keep my arm rest down all the time and I have never bumped into it while shifting.

Get some microsuede from a nice fabric store, take the panels off, peel the stock upholstery off, use it as a template for the new stuff, use 3M spray on glue and do 2 layers of fabric... let the panels sit in your garage for a day or two to really cure and then put them back on your car!
