Foglights letting water in

One of my ebay fogs is letting in some water. I assume the best way to fix this would be to use some quality silicone caulk. Where should I apply the caulk to prevent this from happening again? Has anyone else ever had this problem, and where would the leak be coming from?

I had the same problem. Mine are ruined. You would have to seal around the lens on the front and add to the rubber gasket on the back.

Ok I'l give that a try. How are yours ruined..can't you take the bulb out and clean out the condensation on the inside of the lens?

Water sat in mine and rusted the lens

get oem ones and never have to worry about them again

If the OEM's came in amber, I'd be sold. But I really have a thing for the amber look, so owell. It shouldn't be a hard fix, I drained out the lens this morning and pretty much found out exactly where the water is coming in.

ebay depo fogs? or a different brand?

99lx 06-11-2010 10:13 AM

Yeah, I believe they are the ebay depot fogs...not a hundred percent sure though since I bought them four years ago and just now put them in lol.

Hey Hobo, how long did it take for yours to rust out? Just wondering, because I don't really have time this week to fix it and I was gonna do it in two weeks or so. They wouldn't be rusted in two weeks will they? Also, I drained most of the water out of the lens but it's still foggy on the inside. When I use the lights regularly, will the heat from the bulbs un-fog the inside of the lens, or is there a better way of doing this?

WellFedHobo 06-11-2010 10:26 AM

Mine actually had standing water in them. Never killed the bulb, but it took only 2 weeks.

Yeah mine did too, so I took that foglight off to drain the water out the best I could, and it looks like it's leaking from the back of the assembly. I hope the fogging alone won't rust it out..
