Gear Boot

Help pleeeez.
I want to remove and install a new Gear Boot/Glove on a 97 Civic but how do i do that?

that cover thang that is on the gear lever....what do u call it? How do u remove it?

That "thang" is called a shift boot. To remove it you need to remove the armrest, and then the trim that covers the lower radio spot(the shift boot should be connected to it) Here is pic of the area I am talking about.


The two dots nearest the bottom of the picture are the trim that need to come off. There are four screws on the frontmost part, and then two where the two pieces come together. Then two just behind the seats on the armrest. Pull those apart and take the one with the shiftboot out. Flip it over and there will be two screws(I think, mabey four) holding the boot in. Take them out, replace the shift boot and put it all back together.
