Default General Help

So I'm new to the whole car scene, I don't know much of anything but I want to learn. It's hard to do where I live though, everyone thinks they know everything about cars just because they can put a spare tire on. I've got a 95 EX and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what would be the best thing to start with (i.e. paint job, exterior, interior, engine, etc). If there's already an article about this could someone please link it? I've looked but I'm horrible with forums (haven't been on one since I was 12 and registered on Disney's message boards) Thanks to advance in anyone who can help.

You start where you want to start. Do you feel your car needs a paint job more then anything, do you feel your cars OEM exterior look needs an upgrade, do you feel the OEM interior needs a face lift, or you do want to get more horsepower out of your engine????

Its your car, start where you want to start and do what you want to do it. When you find something you think you want to do to your car you can search the forums here for other people who have done and see how it turned out for them or if you cant find anything in search post a thread ask other members their opinions but just remember its YOUR car so do what you like and not what everyone else tells you to do.

Welcome to HCF.

I'm really thinking I'd like to start with the exterior. The engine is all stock but it runs fine, and I'm not looking to do any street racing. But how much does a paint job usually cost? And if I got a paint job now, would it interfere with getting a body kit later on? Would it be cheaper to get the body kit and then get it painted or would it not matter?

Do any body mods before you paint the car. Cheaper. And Id recommend a lip kit instead of a body kit...looks way cleaner and less extreme.

Well the average professional color change paint job will run about 3500 - 5000.

As for a body kit if it hasnt been too much longer after the car has been painted then it shouldnt be an issue painting it too much but if the paint on the vehicle has any age to it then it will have faded some and getting a freshly painted body kit may or may not match perfectly

You can always go the Maaco paint job route for $1500 max...usually less. The Maaco by me actually has skilled painters doing good work.

What's the difference between lip kits and body kits?
