glow gauges help
 

hey guys, i just installed some of those reverse glow gauges off of ebay, they are pretty nice, but mine wont light up. Heres what i did, i connected the red power wire to the dimmer switch power wire with the black stripe on it and the ground to the black wire on the dimmer switch. They worked fine and even shut off with the lights, so i went inside for supper. When I came back out to show a friend, they did not work this time, and my fuel and temp gauges are screwed now, im pissed[:@] Why wont the gauges light up when they did before? should i connect power and ground somewhere else? and how did my gauges mess up? Thanks for any help, and sorry for sloppy post but i gotta go to bed and work at 5:30 in the morning. lol

Check the fuse. If that is good, then redo the ground wire. Other the those two I would have to have some pics of what you did.

i had a problem wit my guages at first also

try what he said and grounding it elsewhere
but for the power wire i connected to the all red wire goin into the cluster
once i did that ive had no problems. and they work everytime.

make sure ur dimmer isnt down also [8D] lol
thats what my problem was..

i always wired the power wire to the parking light switch.... and just grounded to anything bare steel under the dash....

I bought some and they never worked (cheap ebay lights), i even connected them straight to the battery

lol I think you tried grounding to a power wire. I'm pretty sure both the wires on the dimmer are power wires. Ground to the unpainted frame. (yes you can ground to a power wire and it will kind of work, I have grounded a led switch to the fuse box and it worked before)

Check the link at the bottom of this reply. In my pillar pod procedure, I've included copies of my Civic's underdash wiring diagram. One of the best tools I have is also one of the simplest. I show a picture of it in the procedure. You can use it to find either ground connections or 12 volt wires, very easily.

wow thancs for all the help guys,i will rewire with the tips given on this thread and use the diagram,ill post some pics and result this saturday, i leave in a day to go buy a 2001 honda trx400ex[8D]so i will finish this soon
