I have them in my car, and I have a switch with 3 settings - off, on, and to the beat. What makes it blink is the vibration from your speaker, so depending on where you have the sensor -preferably by the sub- it will blink to the bass or just flicker with everything if it's by the interior speakers.
12" colt cathodes (one set) and you should be good for under your dash. Another set for your back seats if want. Install them yourself, trust me. You'll be happy you saved money, and you'll learn somethin
I just pulled the front seats completely out of my car (4 bolts in each seat) and stuck a 12" neon tube under each seat (there's a small raised spot toward the front under the seats... I put them probably 6" behind that). It lit up the floor amazingly well (especially the back... but it lit up in front of the seats pretty d*** well too).
oh i am definitly going to install them myself, and will probally get the led strips due to imshirazy points. just wondering on what and how to get to switch the lights between differant settings
Also another reason not to get neon or tubes, if you break them you'll have a lot more trouble on cheap material such as either released gas, open circuits which if it touches cotton can cause fire (although unlikely), and shattered plastic.
I'm not sure what you have so far but there are several things you can do for the LEDs.
LEDs come in singles or strips, do not get singles, these are a hassle and just mean far too many wires.
Strips come in a few different forms as well. Some come with relay boxes which have different light settings, these can be cool but are cheap quality products most of the time.

Here's an example of the strip. Do not pay attention to the idea that it's meant for bmws etc, they're universal. There are several things to do. If you want them to turn on when you turn on your headlights (since they'd be on at night, cathodes or LEDs wont be too visible during the day) then remove the dash under the driver side, and look for the red wire that connects to the gauge dimmer or headlight switch.
You can also connect it straight to any power source if you know how to connect a switch yourself, LEDs come with resistors so they don't get overpowered and blow up. Just make sure w/e you attach it to, has a fuse powerful enough to take it. I attached mine straight to the battery, since I have several wires going through the firewall.
I also have lights in my vents.

I don't know if this image tag will work so if not here's a direct link

It really depends on what you want to do, this can be done any numerous ways, so think about what's easiest for you.
