HELP ON QUARTER PANEL
Hi...
Can anyone post how do i remove my passenger side quarter panal of 97 honda civic and fix a new one ? Also let me know is it doable by a new bie or do i need to go to a body shop to get it done Thanks |
RE: HELP ON QUARTER PANEL
my dad put a quarter panel in one time and he said he'll never do it again . you have to have a bunch of body working tools a mig welder and you have to know how to weld . if you get the panel to hot it warps from the heat of the welder and you have to know how to use bondo so its a big job if you do it good luck

i will post the photos tomorrow ....
please some one help me... today evening i went to body shop and asked for estimate... he gave around 800$ to fix it... i dont have that much.. so i am planning to do it myself.... mine is honda civic 97 lx... does it have bolts under ???? i saw a the quarter panel costs around 70$ for honda civic 97 model in lots of sites... so if i fix it then it will be lot more lesser... thanks.... |
RE: HELP ON QUARTER PANEL
Are you guys talking about the qtr panel or the front fender????? the qtr panel has to be cut off and welded on....i doubt you got fiberglass qtr panels....
|
RE: HELP ON QUARTER PANEL
^^^^ i agree if its the qtr panel has to cut out tack welded back on then you have to do the body work bondo and wet sanding and putty work then primer thats why your estimate was high its a lot of work post some pics so we can see the damage you might not have to replace the qtr panel

RE: HELP ON QUARTER PANEL
yea crook and purplecivic are right. you have to cut your quarters out and weld in the new ones. 800 buck isnt bad for replacing a quarter panel, priming, sanding, painting, clearing and then more sanding. i helped a guy do one in school and it was a royal pain in the @$$. you have to basically tack weld about every 6 inches so you dont heat shrink the metal. if u do it yourself make damn sure you know how to weld and take your time. tack a weld every 6 inches but after every weld dip a rag in a bucket of water to cool the weld so it eliminates some of the shrinking. taking your time here will save you a sh*t load when your done cuz u wont have to spend all day filling and sanding out low spots from the welding. just make tacks untill your done then grind the welds down, fill in your low spots with bondo, primer it, wetsand it, then shoot the whole side of the car along with the front and back bumper.
