How do you remove pinstripe??
What the title said. I heard that you can use Bug and Tar to remove it but I wanna know whats the right way to do it. Also once I removed the pinstripe there will be a dark outline of where the pinstipe used to be. How do I removed that also?

RE: How do you remove pinstripe??

RE: How do you remove pinstripe??
Did the black stripe go completely away when you buffed it?

RE: How do you remove pinstripe??
not completely, but it was not really noticable unless you were right up one it... there were parts that were completely gone, and other parts that were slight traces of where it was, but like i said, it was only when you were right up on it. I would take to a tint shop or graphics shop to remove it. this is way if they mess your paint, they're responsible, not you...and they don't charge that much...

RE: How do you remove pinstripe??
i did some research on google for this and from what i read its pretty much all the same, get a heat gun, or for a first timer a hair dryer because if you dont no what your doing a heat gun can blister your paint, so use the hair dryer and get all the glue to loosen up and then you should be able to start and peal it off (i hope your doing this somewere worm), but when your pealing, pull it at a very sharp angle, like 120 degree angle so this way it dosent tare, keep heating if its hard to come off, and then after get some goo gone and take all the rest of the glue stuck to your car off, get some wax and give that part a wax

^ He's pretty much got it.
I just did this this summer, it was a serious pain in the tukus but it came out good. The stripes are designed so that they'll break before they peels off so they don't just peel off, so it comes off about 1/4 inch or less at a time. Heating it evenly and peeling evenly helps reduce the glue residue. I just used rubbing alcohol and cotton balls to get the glue off and it worked pretty good, bug and tar remover should work too though. After a couple good waxs and some hand buffing the outline isn't noticable either... that's the main thing I was worried about but it was fine.:) |
