There's already one on the internet which say that you "need" a ctr gauge bezel for this to work. Well, you don't. And unlike the VTEC light, this is actually useful. This option was included in Japan and Europe but in the US it was optional and seen as luxury. That's why this was not included standard. THIS WILL ONLY WORK ON US MODELS. In canada, it IS possible but you'll lose a funtion from your guage cluster.

Again, take out the cluster and take apart and look @ the following.

The red circle is where we are going to put it.

Notice the two holes. Those are put there by the factory and we going to join them using a diode.

heres the back view

again, using the method in this thread, we sand this area off from the back and use a paper taped over a colored cd case to make our symbol.
here's the link to the picture of the open door you can use. http://www.fotosearch.com/thumb/ICL/ICL131/OBI_008.jpg

this is how it should look afterwards

then, look under the steering wheels and you'll see something like this. (image courtesy of clubsi)

splice into the Light Green/Red wire and run it up to the cluster like shown

We want to cut that pink wire out from the cluster harness that is on the left. THIS IS WHY IT WONT WORK IN CANADA BUT ONLY IN THE USA. In Canada, that pink wire is actually used for something. In the USA, that is just a dummy wire.

Now, put that pink wire into the first hole on the center blue cluster. Then, attach that extension from the light green/Red wire to this.

Use a factory bulb pn# 35505-sa5-003 and plug it into the open hole behind that opening.

Voila you are done.

actually, i carpool quite a bit, and sometimes i'll start to hear a lot of road noise on the freeway and later i find out that the door was not completely closed on the passenger side. This way, i can tell that from the beginning. Plus, if the factory intented for a door ajar light to go there, why not put it.
