Default neon

i bought some neon to put in my car. i got streetglow and i bought 2 3inch tubes to go behind the vents. well i cut the cigarette lighter socket off the end and was going to see if it would work with a 9v battery. . .no...it HAS to have a transformer thing and it still wont work with a 9v. i dont know whats up. will it work with a hot wire ran from the fuse box? possibly more power??? and i broke 1 transformer thing striping the wires out so i guess im going to have to cut into another one and try to run both tubes off the same one. i dont know i have been in the garage all day messing with the wires and everything. the install is clean and when it works, it looks really good. i also have a 3inch tube hidden behind the glove box handle. and then there are 2 15inch tubes under the dash. one is brighter than the other though....im hoping this is because i ran them both into the same wires. any help of WHAT to do? i want to wire it all up to a switch...

not sure i understand here cars power is 12v not 9v......and you have to have the transformer on there it converts the 12v to a lower power so it can power the light.......you should just hook the negative wire on the lighter socket to the negative wire on the transformer and the postive wire on the lighter socket to the positive wire on the transformer and then run the wires from the transformer to the neon........if you broke a transformer don;t hook up 2 on one they will pull too much power from the single transformer and more than likly killing them both.........if oyu have any other questions feel free to ask me i can guide ya through it

i think i got it. i ran the 2 15" tubes to a switch and then all the other stuff i ran into one cigarette plug and when i plug it in, they come on. im gonna buy another tube and just get the transformer off it. when i do, ill hook that one into the same one that the other 3 are and it should work just fine. i kept them one for about 30 mins tonight and didnt have any problems so i hope its all good. just waitin on that other transformer....thanks!

i hooked the 15" tubes up to a switch and thats pretty cool. im not sure if you can hook the other ones up to a switch because of the transformer thing. right now i have them all wired to one cigarette lighter socket.
