hello, i purchased a civic from a friend of mine, and the speedometer works when it wnats to. its a 94 coupe, base model. any ideas what is wrong and how to fix? also, it is the base without tachometer, so i figured id get a 5" tach. only because with extreme base i cant hear the car and know when to shift as good.. are these aftermarket tachs hard to install?

Could be the speed sensor. Does your odometer work?

 

i dont think the odometer works when the speedometer isnt working. when buying a speed sensor does it have to from a car with a manual tranny or does it matter? also, how hard are they to install?
