Paint ?
will dupicolor vinyl and fabric spray paint work on plastic interior parts? or will i have to get some spray paint just for the plastic parts. i sprayed some on the door handle earlier and i wasn't getting a good coat. it was spreading and bubbling up. and yes i shook the hell out of the can before i sprayed it. also what can i use to take off the crappy coat i've done so i can redo it?

RE: Paint ?
thanks for the tip. i like to get it painted this weekend. would i also have to sand the vinyl as well?

RE: Paint ?
did you paint the vinal you want to repaint?..if so, sand it a little just so the paint gets ruffed up, but if its just plan vinal that you want to paint, just make sure you give it a clean with soap and water

RE: Paint ?
yes the vinyl hasn't been painted yet. the only parts i painted was the plastic part of the door handle and the speaker cover on the driver side. i want to remove the paint i already put on and try again. i suck at this but it's also my first time trying to paint interior parts. i guess that's the down side of trial and error.

RE: Paint ?
IM in the process of doing this right now using the dupli vinyl and fabric paint. WHat I am doing is cleaning all the parts up real good, thne I rough them up with some sandpaper. After that clean them off again. Apply a coat or two of plastic primer then put on as many coats as you want of the color. Make sure you let it dry/cure for a while or it could smudge up when you are reinstalling it.

RE: Paint ?
so i can use the duplicolor vinyl and fabric sparay on plastic as long as i sand it and put on a coat of plastic primer?

RE: Paint ?
The only paint I will use on plastic is Krylon Fusion. It will bond to plastic, and after a week, it looks and feels like the plastic is made that color.
Make sure you clean it good, I use paint thinner. If you use paint thinner make sure you let it all evaporate or the paint will not stick. I don't sand the plastic and it comes out fine. Sometimes sanding makes the plastic look wierd. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...a/IM000545.jpg (my last paint job) |
