Default Paint

So im looking to get my 93 civ ex repainted black but honestly i dont have that kind of money to get a show status paint job. I was thinking about resorting to getting the spray on paint job. How durable would the paint be how long would it last and would it look good is all i really want to know. thanks

are you planning to spray it yourself? the quality actually depends on how well you do your prep work. and that usually shows with how well the paint job is and how long the paint would stay good. make sure you have some kind of booth or indoors to prevent the wind from blowing dust and dirt onto the paint job. all this should not cost you too much i am guessing about $300. and good luck with the paint job if you decide to do it this way

i hope your not meaning spray can on..... like a bunch of little cans of spray paint!!!!!!! you can touch up parts of the car and make it look OK if your good with a rattle can like i am but awhole car no way in hell!

plus spray paint puts paint on so thin it will burn right off in the sun!!!!! just read the cans and look at how much paint is actualy in that can! most cans are either 4-8 OZ of paint... the rest is just pressure in the can... thats like a juice box size of paint... now im not sure how many OZs are in a gallon of paint but for a civic id guess it be about 3/4ths of a gallon of paint it would take NOT INCLUDING CLEAR COAT... at 8bucks a pop can it would be alot more expensive to buy a gallon of paint and clear and a decent begingers spray gun and youd also need a air compressor.
even primering a car with spray cans doesnt look good on a whole car.... not ever can is perfectly matched... ive seem some horibly primered cars before... even primering a car with a actual paint gun looks so much better and puts the primer so much thicker its the best way to go with doing it right.

or what alot of people do is do all your own prep work like sanding and fixing dents primer over those areas and smooth them down nicely then take the car to MACOO paint they usualy are running a special on paint and clear the whole car.... and when you get there on your day for the paint job bring a roll of automotive painters tape and tape up your own vehicle edges like the weather striping around the windows and headlights. then they just have to clean the body and tape up the rest and just shoot it... the worst thing ive seen with macoo paint jobs is there prep work sucks and they rush to tape the vehicle up and dont do a good job so your weather striping gets painted over and looks horible.
thats the best/CHEAP way to do it...

i actually think this way would be the best if you think about doing your own prep work anyways. like addiction said Maaco seems to do this a lot from other people's experience with them. they usually run specials for their paint job

if you dont have the money then either save for a good paint job or do the body work yourself if you have experience and go to maaco.

Sounds easy to me, might give my car a repaint on the weekend. Oh and search around, you never knew some paint shops can have specials.
