Default painting interior stuff

Hey does anyone have any experience painting the interior pieces of the car? I am trying to decide to either paint all my plastic pieces or make an attempt to wrap them in fabric....I heard that painting takes alot of upkeep cause it could chip and bubble and blah blah. Fabric would probably look the best but take much longer and I dont know if its even possible yet lol. Right now I am doing my Headliner and sunvisors in micro suede. I have to post some pics up soon.

I have painted a lot of plastic pieces and they used to always chip. I then found out that you need to use a paint adhesive which is called Bulldog and you can buy at your local wal-mart. I haven't had any problems with chipping since I starting doing this. Hope that helps. Also if you use fabric and it gets dirty it is harder to fix than just to spray a little paint on it.

on my interior i used a spray guy and my automotive paint that i got to paint the outside of my car. it works great, no chipping or anything. there are pictures of it in my gallery. make sure you clean it up really good though before you paint it.

I used to have some of my interior painted. WhatI did was clean the pieces really good. Roughed them up with some 400 grit sand paper and and sprayed them with plastic adhesive. Then I sanded again. Then sprayed them again. Let it dry for a few min. Then I put on a coat of paint. Let it dry. Sand with some 800 grit sand paper to get it completely smooth. Put on the rest of your paint coats. Let it dry for a while and then clear coat it a few times and you are done. Never had anything chip.

Hmm wish I had a spray gun....would make my life so much easier. The plastic adhesive you speak of is that at all the same as the paint adhesive Armorman was talking about? If not where did you get the plastic adhesive? And Armorman when did you put the paint adhesive on? Before the paint or after the paint? Before clear coat or after clear coat?

i say paint the plastic parts the same color as the fabric. I think having all your plastic parts wrapped in fabric would look kind of odd

Ya if you do it right you dont need to upkeep them. In my old car I had everything sprayed. For a year nothing happend to it..then i sold it. In the vic I used automotive paint with a gun, that sticks amazing..I tryed chipping it on a old piece, you pretty much cant. Its like paint on the outside bumper of your car.

So is there a good way to do it with just cans? I dont have a spray gun......I should get one though. How much does a "alright one" cost? But ya a solid step by step method with cans would be cool :P Ill do a write up with pics if someone tells me which layers of what to do first.

Clean, Sand, Paint adhesive? , sand, adhesive, paint, sand, paint, paint, paint, clear, clear ???? I dont know what paint adhesive is lol but someone said to go to wally world so I might stop by there on my way home...Do yal think this looks good or am I missing the point of the adhesive stuff lol.
