Default projector headlights question

i have seen several civics running around with projector / angel eyes headlights installed. i noticed one thing in common: their plastic/glass lenses seem smoked or weather crazed. is this a result of poor materials or the lights are getting too hot that it "burns" the covering? i noticed that the ones for sale in ebay, for example look clear and shiny and these same designs look weathered after some time when installed.

also, i was wondering if there is a headlight available for the 93 civic 4dr that resembles that of the 95 accord? i was hoping that it would have a common lens with a middle divider and without the separate round lenses that after market projectors or angel eyes have.

Are you sure it wasn't water? They probably didn't seal them...

Just search around eBay and different Civic sites for a style of head light you want. There's plenty.

Yea, it's probably the headlights fogging up on the inside. In most cases, you will need to use silicone to seal projector headlights.

Yeah, I've had my projectors for almost two years... the only damage they have on the plastic is scratches from road debris.

the sealing might be an issue but it seems that some, if not most of what i see have a brown hue to the lenses; looks burned. i understand that projectors are actually h3 halogen bulbs placed inside a projector lens thats why they give out that flat-top output right?

i would assume that since these things get hot (unless they are retrofitted with hid bulbs) that perhaps this causes the discoloration?

i have looked at ebay and all the headlights i see are ones with projectors and angel eyes. i want to retain the oem look as much as i can and i am hoping that an accord-like lens is the best and least obvious change. any good civic sites that sell headlights, perhaps?

When I bought my civic, the previous owner had installed eBay projector headlights. One of them was perfectly clear, and one had a brown hue to it. They both reached the same temperature and only one headlight had a brown hue so I don't think that's the reason.

How about black headlights like these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/92-93...spagenameZWDVW

It still baffles me why they turn out brownish though. Maybe its with the quality of the plastic?

I have a full chrome version of that same headlight design. It is very nice but it seems that with my hids, the glare it produces can be blinding to oncoming traffic. I think its a compromise to the design being that it seems this is actually made for regular halogen H4s. I put eyebrow covers on them to help reduce glare. I would like to remove them for better looks but i guess its something i have to do to keep other drivers sane. LOL
