Red black tail lights

stupid question and i think i know the answer but i dont want to f anything up
painting tail lights = same process of painting head lights?

Yes...in order for them to not look like crap, you gotta pull them apart and paint the inside of the lens. What are you trying to do...tint them or make them all red or what?

wanted to tint the white to greyish black and leave the red, red.

Yeah..pull em apart like you would do if you were tryin to paint the inside of your headlights...mask off the red and I think the best tint paint i've heard of is made by VHT. Check it out here http://www.speco.com.au/vht_special.html The nite shades works the best but you can also use the window tint. Usually you will want to spray in light htin coats...depending on how dark you want, just go coat by coat until it's cark enough for you.
