Shifter changing

Default Shifter changing

I have a 04 civic ex, and its manual....i cant figure out how to change the shifter ****... does it screw off or something?.....please help...thanks

Im pretty sure it should just twist off, if not just pull off. Thats how they all are.

I tried turning it off but it doesn't seem to want to move thanks for your help does anyone have any other suggestions?

now i wana make the shifter shorter could i have any help to find out how to do it?

you need to buy a "short shifter"

I have one from TWM, but they are expensive

im not sure about the 04, but on the 00, just twist it off. then you want the short shifter, i prefer the skunk2 one because its made of steel and wont break. i broke 2 aluminum ones before i got the skunk2 one.

i had the trouble with getting my gearknob off! i know you have a different model to me but try twisting REALLY hard.
thats what i had to do... but if you brake something it not my fault!

counter clockwise, grasshopper... righty titey, lefty loosey. and yes , hard, cuz ya gotta break the thread sealer(locktite).

I have an 04 EX also. I replaced my shift **** with the leather 04 Si **** and "Man, I really love the way it feels." Get a good grip on the little aluminum collar just under the shift **** and pull it down. You will hear a little pop sound, then just twist off counter clock wise. Thats it.
