Default Should I remove all ext. paint before repainting?

Gonna be doing some repainting on the hood and fenders, and wanted to see if it was necessary to remove all the paint from those parts or can i get away with some sanding until it's smooth...

try to get as much as you can the more time you spend prepping the better the paint will hold and look! good luck

It depends on the condition of the paint. If you have rust, check marks, delamination, or any other kind of damage, you want to go down to bare metal. But if the paint is in really good shape, just sand through the clearcoat to the base coat.

ya man, prep is the biggest part of it all, and its the thing that takes the most time...thats why body shops charge so much, painted takes like 30min

there are really cheap abrasive blasters out there that might speed up the work. Don't warp the sheet metal with the friction though!
