Spoiler/Taillights issue
I have a 98' EX coupe and i have a spoiler that i wanna get rid of. If i take it off myself, will there be holes where water can leak thru? should i get it proffessionally taken care of? im more of DIY kind of guy and wanted to know what is best.
And i have one more question, the tailights i just got are diff colors than the ones on my civic, they seem to be stock though. any ideas why? and how do i install them? i heard something about 98's having diff tail lights is this true? thanks for any help guys |
RE: Spoiler/Taillights issue
depends on the color of the tail lights, if they have red over clear then I believe they would be proper for an EX, if they're red over colors, that might also be proper... I know my DX has red over orange and clear
and yes, if you remove spoiler, it'll leave holes in the trunk lid that will have to be filled & painted |

RE: Spoiler/Taillights issue
DIY
take the spoiler off, a bunch of screws. get some bondo and fibre glass. do the bondo first, sand it real smooth, try not to sand the areas around the holes as best as possible. then fibre glass, cause fibre glass will make it water tight. then sand it agian, real smooth, get the paint color of your car, and follow the instructions. |

RE: Spoiler/Taillights issue
well that style is for a 4door with the ebay pictures...
but same typical color scheme... the red with lower white fully across is the more desirable taillights everyone wants... with changing them they are realy easy.... 4 nuts on each light... thier 4 lights.... and with the spoiler forget the fiberglass and bondo.... if you want it to look right take it into a shop and have it welded up and repainted... if you just bondo or fiberglass over the holes it will just bust loose over time from all the slamming of the trunk and you realy dont want that! or heres another idea.... just check around your junk yards for one matching without the spoiler.... or even throw it up with the spoiler for trade and some money for the same color... if you can..... that would definatly be the easiest!!!!! i know id like to have a OEM spoiler and it would make it alot easier to just swap trunks and know its all right.... but im more of a OEM freak when it comes to body parts... LOL cause ive had to many raw aftermarket products! tho the headlights i will replace eventualy but with some black OEM style headlights and hope they fit properly! |
