Maybe you got a ticket because your no name brand intake isn't CARB exempt.

I dont understand why you would get a ticket off an intake anyway. It doesnt alter the emiisions as far as Im concerned.

my AEM intake came with a C.A.R.B. sticker but i dont really understand why it would have it either since it dosnt have anything to do with the exhaust or harmful gasses.

Those guys who are telling you not to worry about it don't live in California. You have stronger rules regarding emissions, and you may very well be able to get a ticket for your intake.

The letters for any headlights on any street/highway driven car is DOT approved. Offroad or show car = anything goes.
Illegal in CALI to have more then 4 front facing headlights....all others MUST be covered if you are on the street/highway.
Anything to do with emission on a Cali car MUST have a CARB stamp PERMANENTLY attached to it. This includes intakes, header, cats, some exhaust components. If you paid 60.00 I guarantee it will not have a CARB sticker. Yes as someone mentioned the car may physically pass smog, but a good smog tech won't even start the process without the CARB sticker. (it'll be his azz on the line if it is caught)
Here are some engine items that get you a ticket
Air Cleaner Modification - modifications to the air cleaner and/or its housing.
Air Filter/Intake Modification - open element air filters, modifications to the air flow intake tract, heat risers/preheat ducts.
Engine Modification/Engine Change - kits that include multiple engine modifications such as new cylinder heads and camshafts, or boring and stroking; engine changes using an engine certified for another late model vehicle application, with additional engine modifications.
Exhaust System/Exhaust Modification - exhaust manifold, exhaust headers, exhaust pipes, crossover pipes, etc.
Fuel Line Modification - devices designed to attach to or be inserted in the fuel line.
Fuel System Modification - fuel filters, gas caps, pressure regulators.
Intake/Exhaust System - a kit that includes both intake and exhaust components.
site for legal headers, intakes etc...here
and some other CHP illegal stuff CHP law

LOL..Cali does sucK for tuners

Illegal lights, whether or not they are operating. It is illegal just to have them on the vehicle (24003 VC).

Driving with just parking lights on (24800 VC). Vehicles that have factory-installed automatic daytime running lights must meet federal requirements and are legal.

Headlights brighter or higher wattage than those from the factory. You may be able to see better, but the lights are illegal (24011 VC).

Illegal lights, whether or not they are operating. It is illegal just to have them on the vehicle (24003 VC). ...OMFG..but officer I need these light bulbs back at the house..I'm just transporting there in the car. (maybe not that bad just yet.)
