Default Valve cover paint done!

Finally finished it, doesnt look too bad, think I am actually glad i decided to not sand the letters, Where tape is could have been done a bit cleaner but the parts that arent blue will be covered up by stuff anyway so its all good. Was a good learning experience and even though it didn't turn out quite as good as i wanted it to I am still glad i did it, was a good way to get aquainted with that particular piece of my car.

I used high temp paint and regular clear coat. Still looks good to this day (done three weeks ago).

Wait are you asking how to get the spark plug wires off? You just pull them. And for the hsoe of the back side, just twist it back and forth till it breaks free, then pull it off.

Also, your not gonna try to paint it on the engine are you?

You gotta twist them as you're pulling.

First off I meant nothing about you personally. When you have heard some of the STUPID things people have done on here, you have to ask. LOL

Secondly, be sure to post some pics of the finished product!!!!

I know, sorry if i came off as an *** lol knew you were just trying to help yeah i am going to do it today, after i am done i will have some pics of it. Should look pretty nice, going with blue as the color.

Also a quick question my dad wanted me to ask, how long do i need to let the paint sit before i can put the cover back on and start the engine? I am hoping I was right in thinking a few hours rather than him thinking it would take a week since the bottle says it takes "3 hours to dry to be safe to handle and 7 days to cure"

I just left it over night and it was fine. BE VERY CAREFUL when putting the valve cover back on not to overtighten the nuts! I snapped one off and many others have done the same.

thanks, just got done painting it, again, when we were sanding it the paint got scratched. So basically i just put another coat over everything and wont be bothering with sanding the letters after that dries, I can deal with the letters being blue but i can't deal with the paint being scratched up since I am a bit of a perfectionist with my car. Wont look as good as i wanted though because now the paint is thicker on some of it then on the rest. But oh well, it happens.
