Default Wet Sanding the Headlights?

I am trying to get rid of the yellowish buildup on my headlight which made is making my light unclear. I saw several wet sanding applications that claim to remove the residue, but does it actually work, and which one is the best?

I have the same thing on one of my headlights. It's like a scuffed up look. Hard to describe. I think that's the same thing he has. So naturaly, I want to get this off of mine.

What grit of sandpaper is reccomended?

You have to polish them after sanding, with a plastics polish, preferably from meiguiars or 3m

wet sand from about 800 to 2000, or thats what i did, it may not take that much. start higher if it works.i mean if 1500 will get it out, thats lesssanding for you. then 3m rubbing compound a few times. buff it, then a layer of regular car wax. good as new.

Whatever you do
DO NOT SAND IN CIRCLES!!
You will make your headlights worse!

i had this problem hardcore on my car....what i did was bought a kit from autozone that somewhat worked but not too well....i then bought some sandpaper as said in another post and some scratch x from meguiers and i dunno if i was doing it wrong or what happened but that didnt do anything...then i bought a kit in walmart it was in a bag that was shiny and it was the same set up as the first kit but it worked great....my headlights looked brand new...now when i clean my car i use the scratch x on my lights and they look great...

Did this on my lights. Got a kit from Advance Auto Parts with 1k, 1500, 2k, and 2500 grit. And yes, don't sand in circles. It had instructions on what to do, and it had a polish.

It's around 5 or 6 months later and they are starting to fade again, but it's definitely worth just 20 bucks to delay spending big money on anything else.
