Default Whacked, Cracked & Smacked CRX

Happy Sunday to all!

My 1985 CRX Si was hit by a gigantic 6000lb. 2000 Ford Expedition SUV in a parking lot late Friday.

With the 4 behemoths riding inside in the SUV, approx. 7000lbs splintered, ripped & disintegrated the
front-end components, knocking theCRX 2-3 feet to the right. The guy did NOT stop until caught in traffic, 40 feet or more up the road.

Fenders, inner fenders, parking light assemblies, grille, valance panel, header panel, bumper, spoiler, radiator,
and all attachment hardware= non-repairable. Hood probably repairable, but will replace.

Good news? No "known" structural damage to unibody, suspension, etc. at this time.

Bad news? Whetherthe SUV-driverhas insurance or not isn't clear.
I love the car, am 2nd owner, and willreturn it to pristine shape, whatever happens, re: insurance.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
**QUESTION: Are these body components STILL available from Honda dealers?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks very much!!

I'm pretty sure you can get parts, but don't quote me on that. If not, http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/carries a bunch of OEM replacement parts

+1 on autopartswarehouse.com They are great. I have done tons of buisness with them and had a great experience every time. They even paid to ship a set of rotors I ordered back, and it was my mistake. They are great.

Thanks for all the replies, fellas. They mean a lot, esp. at a time like this.

Turns out the SUV that splintered the CRX is insured (Nationwide), but

as you'd expect, their claims agent is trying his best to jerk me around.

Laughable Quotes:

"My client says he does not accept any responsibility for your damages...he states you were in his path."

(Yep, that's true...sitting stationary in the parking lot)

"I don't even know if I'm even going to authorize the claim, but I definitely won't authorize you to get a replacemental rental...even if your car is totaled, it's worth less than a thousand dollars, tops."

(The April 2007 "Old Cars Price Guide" gives a value of 2700.00 for a CRX in #3 condition, which means
average driver-quality condition.)

Sooooooo....I very slowly & calmly said: "So, your client is lying, & you think my car isworth zip. I'm not going to argue with you. I believe my best route is to just let our family attorneyfile the property damages in court later this week."

Then, the Nationwide shyster says: "Don't you start threatening me!!" My reply? "Good-bye"...click.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I meet at 1pm tomorrow with the attorney.

This liar & his SUVhas already run over my CRX, but he and Nationwide are NOT going to run over me.

Would really appreciate your thoughts, advice, etcetera on this.----------Thanks very much!---Jim

Sorry to hear about that man...glad that he's insured.

It's good to see that you're stepping up to be the bigger man and not get in his face. Let the courts decide it!

Good luck!

Man insurance companies are for the most part a bunch of crooks here in the state of oregon its law that if you ahve full coverage they have to do something about it, but they will still give you the 9 mile run for the money, its rediculous. Its insurance alright insurance that your going to get screwed by them many many times.
