Window tints
So i just got my car a weeks back and i was recently told by local lawenforcement that my windows were way over the legal limit. Now i didn't get a ticket or warning because i asked an officer about it but does anyone know if i should even take off my tints or keep them on? I was also wondering if anyone could help me on advice to see how to test your tints if they are legal or illegal? I found out that i wouldn't be getting away with using i brought the car like this at the dealership excuse. since i live in wisconsin the tint laws are decent but i think my car is over the legal limit. I'll
try to post an image of my car when i get a chance. All the help is needed and i would be gateful for any tips or advice about my tints.

Well I'd say take it off and get some lighter tint. I say this because they will continue to pull u over because cops hate dark tint. its a safety risk for them b.c if the tint is really dark, they cant see if you have a weapon pointed at them. so its just a matter of time until u get a pulled over by a jerk cop thats gonna give u an ticket. i looked up your statea and this is what I found. Different states have different laws.
Windshield Non-reflective tint is allowed along the top of the windshield above the manufacturer's AS-1 line.
Front Side Windows Must allow more than 50% of light in.
Back Side Windows Must allow more than 35% of light in.
Rear Window Must allow more than 35% of light in.

the stupidest is connecticut law the front and rear passenger windows need to be 35% and the back window can be as dark as you want.so you can have a gun pointed at the cop and he wouldn't know it unless he pulls infront of you.
Thx for all the help and advice. I m going to try to upload a few pic of my civic soon to see what u guys think about it. Everybody who has seen my car tells me the are dark. but i lucky that i haven't been pulled over for them yet.
I've gotten a lot of crap for my tinting. Its exactly the legal limit for my state (27% all round) and I've gotten pulled over for it more than five times. I've always assumed its because the car is BRIGHT red, and the tinting looks completely black in comparison.
I discovered a cool trick: Go get an eye exam, and ask the doctor to write you a note saying you can have darker than legal tinting because the sun bothers your eyes. Keep the paper in your car. That said, I have been known to throw up due to strobe lights, but it worked for my friend with much darker tinting as well. :P

i tinted my own windows and did 5% all around and i even tinted my taillights. everyone always says how colorado is strict w/ there tint laws and what not but ive had it on for about a year now and i have yet to get pulled over

OH, and the window tint wasn't a factor in the crash! The other guy was drunk and crossed the center line.
