RE: Megan Racing 4-2-1 Header
Is is it fine to have an intake and say a megan header w/o a aftermarket exhaust?

RE: Megan Racing 4-2-1 Header
well yea it'll work, you'll just see bigger gains with the new exhaust. There are lots of people (Myself included) that had a header/intake without a catback. I've got catback now, but before i got it i just had my header and intake, its totally okay.

k cuz thats wut im gunna be doing most likely, cuz the header is cheaper and ill be able to get that first before the catback

althoguh it is cool getting I/H/E all at the same time and feeling one big gain, rather than some thorttle response/4-5 HP from the intake, a little gain from the header, and then some top-end from the catback all spread out over a few months, getting all of them at the same time and getting all the gains/sound at the same time would be cool! But w/e, back on topic now

Why are they technically illegal?

RE: Megan Racing 4-2-1 Header
ya i jsut bought the kit that comes with the header cat and exhasut.. and you can prevent that color from coming, when your installing the headers, put on some all cotton gloves, because that color pops up from the oil on your fingers and when it is heated it stays there, so try not to touch it directly with you hand.

Is there a way to stop the header from turning that golish color?

It's not just that, it also has to do with oxidations. The exposed surface of a lot of metals tends to bond with oxygen (but with most that do it's usually pretty slow, you know how like penny's turn dark after a while) but heat (energy) quickens the reaction. This is why in welding (lots of heat) they have to use some type of intert (not reactive) gas or flux to keep the metal from oxidizing (weakens welds). Rust is another example of oxidation.
But seriously, why are these headers technically street illegal?

RE: Megan Racing 4-2-1 Header
Ok soI was going to go with the DC creamic headers, but i was looking around andI seen thease for much cheaper and they seem to look decent. Can anyone tell me how much of a difference it would be if I decided to go with Megan instead of DC? WillI see less HP gains? Or is the price difference just based on the names? Basically what I want to know is; WouldI be better off just saving some more money an going with DC, or is it not a big enough of a difference thats worth the extra money for.
