to answer the questions not too much looking at under 2k, years- olderbefore 85, RWD V8 im looking for a beast of a car something that can make up for my slow 03 civic lx, i like 69chevy c10s because i see very few of them, most of them are v8 383s or more. and one question the law in california? if you have a car made before 75 you dont have to smog it? is that correct??

How about a cutlass? I think those look good and they can easily fit in a 350

Honestly I think a early 80's regal would be good. They can be had if they are stock V6 automatics and anything from a 283 small block to a 596 big block will fit in them. You have to do some custom work to get a manual transmission in it but it will be worth it. They are in that grey area, people are starting to really like/pick up on the adaptability of these cars to be muscle cars but on the other hand the want is not crazy now and the cars are not so old that it's hard to find parts for it(body/interior parts because engine parts will be around forever).
