Other than the weirdos watching DragonBallZ until 3am, has anyone had any real experience with Japan? Anyone actually live there and speak it? I seem to meet alot of people that are obsessed with Japan but haven't ever been there. The only people I really meet that have lived there for a long time are guys home from their missionary service for the mormon church. I'd be interested in hearing where anyone else has been and how long they were there and their thoughts about the honda fatherland.

my best friend is japanese and is actually over there right now...i planned on going there with him and his family a while ago but it never went thru. from the pics and stuff he says about it, it sounds really amazing and i really wana go there. he always bring back some AWESOME candy from there

 

What'd you do over there for 2 years? Worked? And heck yeah, japan has some great candy... the bread and other desserts are pretty sugar-free but i ate enough rice everyday to avoid bread. I was hooked on the fish as a kid but in Kumamoto we got good ol "basashi" which is raw horse meat! mmmm mmm good!

 

My stepfather was in the Air Force and got stationed over at Yakota AFB, I was in 7th and 8th grade.

 

I went to Japan for vacation 2 years ago. I stayed there for a week. And let me just tell you this. If you don't speak Japanese or know of anyone who speaks Japanese, don't go! The people there can barely speak english. Well at least in Tokyo.
