Default Cameras?

Hello!
I sort of posted about this in the newbies section...
Does anyone have any suggestions for cameras in the $150 club? The CoolPix series looks pretty good, but I am open to all options!
Thanks
KR

I'd either go for a Canon or a Nikon, they're really the 2 brands making the best digital cameras these days.

Canon Powershot A550 should do ya pretty good.

I usualy always stick with Canon, even tho Nikons are alright thier cameras are usualy pretty fugly.

Here is the best site I have found for camera reviews. A little bit of clicking around should find you what you want.

Canon is a great company, i love my Canon PowerShot SD400. i'd recommend the Canon PowerShot SD450, i think they normally go for close to $200 but u can prolly find a good deal. u'll also need a new memory card since the lil 16M it comes with its pretty much useless. on rebate or sale, a 1gig(which is probably plenty for u), can go for real cheap.

Are you just using it to take your basic photos? If so, just get somthing small that fits in your pocket and somthing 5+ MP. If your looking that has a bunch of different settings and such, your going to have to do your research. The Canon Powershot is a great camara for somthing new into photography, has plenty of settings to keep your busy and leaning. A really good site for reviews is http://www.steves-digicams.com/, also, alot of different camara sites and retailer sites, you can compare camaras side by side. And one more thing, SHOP AROUND. I bought a camara that was $400 reg for $225!! I just wanted till a sale and jumped on it. The next week, it went right back up. So keep a eye open for deals/sales, also demo modles you can save a big chunk of change on. But before you buy, make sure you know what your plans are for it.

On this, be -very- careful if you see a store selling a demo model. The demo models are usualy abused to all hell. Check carefully and make sure the camera is actually in good shape. A lot of the times the lense or lcd will be scratched, buttons will be broke, or if there's zoom it wont function properly. I see people drop these, let them go and let the security wires fling them all over the place, people cough on them and just absolutely abuse them to all hell.

^^ If you go to the right place, they will give you warrintys on them though. And you can buy the additional wattinty for a year for like $10, which is so cheap. Its not always the best idea, but it doesnt hurt to check.
