Ive always figured that. 100% of the time I have been pulled over (even being drunk) and completly cooperate (being 96% honest... my rule) and I have always gotten away. I figure they arent stupid and know what I was doing or where I was coming from and realised that Im not a threat and had bigger fish to fry.

i just dont admit to anything calmly.

"did you know why i pulled you over?" " no sir"

"you were speeding" " i didnt know sir"

"can you pop the hood?" " no sir"
"do you have something illegal in there " no sir"
"so why cant you pop the hood then?" " its my right as an american, and you need a warrent for that"

then he told me to drive safley and i was on my way. i was kind and foward, and didnt admit to anything.

when they tell you, you were speeding. never ever say that you are sorry. because technically that is admiting to it. and he will write you a ticket.

domestic disturbance u make a very good and clear point. i have tremendous respect for police just for what they do and what they have to go through. but since were all car ppl and we like to speed and have some fun, we'll always have some run ins with the cops that were not gena like and in turn, most of us, will automatically dislike cops. Its kinda like cats and dogs and for some reason they just dislike and cannot get along with eachother. its human nature for us...lol. most cops tho will give u a break if its minor and ur friendly with them.

I have a ton of law enforcement people in my family. My uncle is a sherrif, dad's a prison gaurd, brother in law is a detective for the sherrif's department, father in law is a city leuitenant, step dad is a prosecuting attorney, grandfather is a judge, and my mom works for the state police (just in the office tho, not as an officer)...etc... I wanted to point that out before I made my next point, just so you know I'm well aware of the good people of law enforcement, and I'm more than well aware of the **** they have to deal with...That being said...

I've never bitched over a ticket that I've gotten, because I knew damn well that I deserved it. The situations in which I do bitch, are the ones where the cop clearly classified me as a "street racer" because of the car I was driving. THAT'S CALLED PROFILING DICK! Its no different than arresting the black man coming out of a convenience store after the cops had heard it'd been robbed, only to find out he's the store owner. Unless you catch me actually street racing, or driving like I'm on the Autobahn, then you have no ****ing reason to question me about what's under my hood, or anything along those lines...

PROFILING, while not politicly correct is a very efficient way of policing.

Look at it this way, if you were told, you had 1 hr to "see" as many drug dealers as possible, where would you start driving around? Would you drive around in an area not known for having drug dealers, or would you start driving around in an area KNOWN for having drug dealers?

If you we looking for DUI's, would you sit out in front of the YMCA, or the VFW?

If you were looking to score a one night stand, would you go to the Amish film festival, or a the local club?

The police are given VEY limited resources, and ask to do WAY TO MUCH. Should they be stopping Mini vans looking for mods, or should they be stopping 18 year old kids in cars that are known to be the "type" kids modify. IMO it would be a waste of tax payer money for police to "profile" mini vans.

You missed my point.. It shouldn't matter what you're driving, only HOW YOU'RE DRIVING IT. If you're driving in a manner that suggests you may have some illegal stuff under the hood (i.e. street racing), then THAT is a viable reason for wanting to see what's under the hood.
