EP3 vs. z6 crx your opinion

My buddy just got a 02 ep3 stock besides k&n filter and autozone muffler. I drive a 89 rex with z6 swap, I.H.E., blox intake mani, and stage 1 exedy clutch, weighed in at 1987lbs. Just wondering what you thought. 20 bucks on it just to make it fun.

MBrent Jan 3, 2011 04:12 PM

what are the specs on the k20 in the ep3? weight? i would think the hatch, but i own a rex so im pulling for you lol. video that ish. idk if my b16 rex would outrun an ep3. maybe on top end?

160hp at 2740lbs??? that isnt good. maybe my rex will get a stock ep3. apparently, the ep3 mill had a sh!t head. 140 torques is nothing to brag about. hell, i say the z6 rex will get him, if the rex has been maintained right. sorry for all the info...

Troof. EP3 + K20A2 head = go time

OP, I trust this race will take part on a dedicated track and not on public roads?

race and see who can crash into the tree first

civicexracer Jan 3, 2011 06:21 PM

I'm pretty sure the CRX will get it. EP3's, esp. stock, are sloooww. Worst Civic SI made IMO. No offensive to anyone who has one here, but just saying..

Scott53092 Jan 3, 2011 06:24 PM

^ Agreed, friend of mine had one, never really raced against anyone but it def wasn't that impressive. The shifter is stupid as hell too.

no im not an idiot it will be a closed course our strip does 1/8th mile test-n-tunes year round.

I'm hoping your CRX wins. EF's were the best civic chassis ever made IMO but that's cause I own one. yes I'm bias. although i've always liked EG coupe's when done right. whats the HP and TQ on the z6?

Just making sure. Anyway, the CRX will most likely be faster. It's lighter and the K20A3 is a pretty weak engine. The Z6 isn't exactly that great, but it's still one of the, if not the best D-series engines Honda ever made. Not to mention your I/H/E and intake manifold vs. an intake and a muffler.
