pretty white smoke arose from my tower........upon inspection power supply melted..... it was time for a new computer anyways.

I'd recommend a motherboard with real time monitoring. I did the same thing downloading Windows XP service pack 2 and a very large blue flame shot out the back of the computer. Bought a motherboard and power supply with real time monotoring and alarm if things start getting out of control.....lol
