Default gas pump spilling

i dont know what is going on, but the past two times ive gotten gas, once from delta sonic, and once from a mobil, first off, the gas wouldnt pump right, i had to have the handle almost barely down at all, and if i pulled it wide open, it would click like it was full, but i knew it wasnt. so anyways, i was pumping the gas, waiting for it to stop and all of a sudden it started pouring all down the side of my car and all over my rim. so if anyone has any advice, itd b great.

The way the gas nozzle knows to shut off is that it senses a change in pressure from the tank filling up. If for some reason there is no pressure change, then you could have that prob. There is a dome on the top of the gas tank (gas is not stored there), its there so that the gas has somewhere to go when it sloshes around. Maybe you have a leak in that part of the tank? Just a thought.

It could be just how fast the pump pumps gas. There is a station near my house that pumps really fast that i dont go to because by the time the pump shuts off gas is squirting out.

Sometimes the pump is faulty. It happens to me once in awhile in any car.
